Homemade Vanilla Powder

What’s my favourite ingredient in whole wide world?

Yep, vanilla.

I absolutely love that a tiny bit of vanilla can go such a long way in providing a recipe with an intense sweet flavour. It’s safe to say I use it at every opportunity and in every form possible.

Lately I have been making my own vanilla essence/extract (which I will certainly post soon).

While I was cooking the other day though, I realised that it would be great to have quick access to vanilla in dry form. I know that scraping vanilla beans from the pod is wonderful but sometimes I don’t have a pod, and sometimes I just want super fast access to my vanilla. Enter: Vanilla Powder!

Homemade Super Easy Vanilla Powder

Ingredients

10 vanilla pods (I get mine from an amazing food co-op near my house)

….and that’s it.

Directions

I popped my vanilla pods in my dehydrator to dry out as much as possible. But this can also be easily done by leaving your pods out for a few days.

Pop the dried vanilla pods into a blender or food processor and blend until it becomes a fine powder.

And there you have it. Beautiful, pungent, fresh vanilla powder.
